Programs for Teens (8th-12th Grade)

There are many ways for teens to find a home at Temple Micah after their Bar or Bat Mitzvah. We encourage you to take advantage of one, if not all of the activities we offer. We want teens to feel welcome and cared for in the Temple Micah community. Please reach out if there are other ways your teen would like to be involved or supported.

“Reason 2 Believe”

Two Tuesdays a month, all 8th-12th graders gather for prayer, dinner and learning. Classes are taught by Micah rabbis and educators. R2B also includes special events and trips around Washington D.C., such as speakers at Sixth & I. If you are interested in joining the R2B program, please click here to register.

TM Teens/MiTY

Every few weeks, we offer a variety of social opportunities to help build the Temple Micah teen community. Events include casual dinners, trips to the zoo and to DC sporting events, SkyZone, community service projects, and more. Some events will be teen-led by our MiTY board, and others will be led by Temple Micah staff. There is no cost to participate in this program, events are pay-as-you-go or free.

Machon Micah Madrichim Program

Madrichim (the Hebrew word for counselors) are teachers’ aides who assist teachers during Machon Micah on Sunday mornings and/or Tuesday nights. Participants in the madrichim program can earn community service hours while developing professional skills and giving back to the Temple Micah community. Madrichim help with planning, logistics, and implementation of Machon lessons. They also assist in building meaningful relationships with Machon students. If you are interested in being a madrich/a, click here to fill out an application.
